Demons
Demons are a race of magically powerful humanoids that feed on the mana generated by negative emotions. Their feeding allows stagnant slow moving mana of all sorts to be moved back into the mana flows of a world. In their past they destabilized their genetic make up and therefore have a great diversity of forms and abilities.
The greater demonic race have retained their ability to feed on stagnant mana, and are therefore not prone to the dreaming. They can take on a near-god like state when they return the mana they've fed on to the mana streams. In this state they are reformed by the specific type of mana they feed on, which they call taking on the aspect of their god. (ie: a demon who feeds on lust may take the form of eros or any other love god that worshipers might have enough power to inadvertently summon.)
Demons are immortal and do not die of age though they can be killed or banished back to their realm. Greater demons can be nearly impossible to kill and their individual differences may hint at methods to wound them greatly enough to incapacitate them for multiple human life times. More often they are turned discorporeal and locked into objects.
Greater demons also retain the ability to hold many magical links to other creatures (an individual who bears a demon's link is an Aradan) and to their own families, by way of placing their mark on an individual. Those with links to a demon many be granted abilities or magic from the demon and may also lend their abilities or magic to a demon. Making both the Aradan and the head of a greater demon house formidable opponents.
