The creatures in his fortress tend towards shapeshifters and he can Control and Call Wolves. (This did not make him popular with Kenneth)
He was an old guardian when he was approached by the empire to take an Er'aura into his fortress. Initially skeptical and unwilling, the death and replacement of his close friend in a nearby fortress convinced him and the surrounding guardians in the area capitulate to taking on the enchantment. His ages of experience as an enchanter allowed him to predict the outcome of this plan to save the world better then most. Among the guardians he had been campaigning to find a different solution. He had made plans and alterations to hide himself before the magic died.
He encouraged and helped William find and take over Sky fortress, and convinced Michael to sidetrack the potential guardian that the Empire had chosen for sky.
When Kenneth took over the position of Claviger, Seafraid and Taggart spent a lot of time looking for solutions; but some of the things that Kenneth was doing in removing people from the world, Taggart did not agree with. There were many arguments.
Taggart hid a young tutelar from Kenneth, and when Kenneth found out it was the last straw, Kenneth pulled most of the lines from Taggart's and smashed the Armillary, effectively locking Taggart into his fortress.
Without the normal magic of the fortress, and a greater draw on the area magic (because the Er'aura was made to drain more lines the the fortress had) made Taggart very susceptible to the dreaming, but also very tied to his fortress. The fortress was well hidden in the Scottish mountain ranges, and closed up for milena with no one aware of it's existence. Within the dreaming Taggart functioned on automatic.

The first wave of magic, however, woke him quickly because it restored the long dried lines of mana to his fortress. He contacted Adatia first, who put him in contact with Ryan.
Kenneth found out Taggart was awake, and promptly made sure that one rare and essential component he needed in order to fix his armillary was out of his reach. He forbade any other guardians from sharing the rare metal with him, and placed a spell on the area that does not allow the metal to pass into the area of the fortress.
Ryan started using the fortress as a production facility for magic items for the war, against Kenneth's wishes.
About five years ago he met a IS 51 operative by the name of Phaedra, and they hit it off. They were married recently and have a recently born daughter by the name of Lynn.
Taggart is a renowned smith and an enchanter who can fix almost any part of a fortress. In the past he was the source other guardian's turned to for repairs they could not do themselves.
