Er'aura

Er'aura are crystals that were placed in the fortresses of the world of Caledon to drain mana from the world into various other magical worlds. This was the solution the ancients developed in order to close Gaia from "The Enemy" or other magical incursions.

     The guardians, who normally would keep the mana pools moving and clean were charged with keeping the mana flowing through the Er'aura. As there was less and less mana in the world many of the guardians took spirit form and withdrew into the Er'aura. These crystals store vast amounts of magical energy and can be tapped by mages in order to cast spells, or if broken they spill mana into the world.
