Drow

Drow are Fae which have inky black skin and white or various unusual shades of light coloured hair and eyes. They once worshipped a spider goddess but have since become a secular society based on the principals of that worship. They are matriarchal with the women carrying eggs for a few months before they lay them and the males finish hatching and raise the Drow offspring.
Drow males generate mana but cannot cast spells without the risk of being trapped within their own casting. Drow females do not generate as much mana but use that produced by their husbands to supplement their castings the spells, and do not suffer from being trapped in their casting. Many of their spells are solely oriented to keep their underground communities alive.
Most drow do not interact with surface dwellers, preferring their small underground communities. They are quite prone to sunburns and are sensitive to light despite their colouration, as they are not adapted to the sunlight.
As a community the drow moved deeper underground sealing themselves away from the surface as magic receded and they kept their fortress active without any Er'aura in place. Their communities to never suffered the same loss of magic or the dreaming the surface world did. To maintain this independence they killed any invaders from the surface on sight until very recently; and did not allow any of their subjects to interact with surface dwellers. Recently colonies have created surface enterances near Alexandria, Johannesburg, Gondar, Gagra, Bahia, and Havana.
